DAVID LACHAPELLE RETURNS TO GUADALAJARA
WITH A HISTORIC  NEW EXHIBIT  AND COMPELLING MESSAGE

• The Internationally renowned artist, DAVID LACHAPELLE presents a new exhibition of his latest work. 

• This exhibition will take place in the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, in the city of Guadalajara, from March 30th to July 30th, 2017. 

• The “Guadalajara, Guadalajara” brand and the Government of Guadalajara, in an effort to bring the best of arts and culture to the city, present this exciting new exhibition.

• The cultural initiative for this exhibit is organized by 212 Productions.

The “Guadalajara, Guadalajara” brand is pleased to announce the  exhibition of the internationally renowned artist DAVID LACHAPELLE, titled LOST & FOUND | VOLVER A ENCONTRARSE.

 

The focal point of the exhibition,in thishistoricMuseum, is the the highly anticipated new series by LACHAPELLE, ‘New World’ which the artist created over the past ten years on the island of Maui, Hawaii; and will be shown for the first time – worldwide – in Guadalajara.  The presentation is an overture to the artist’s upcoming fall 2017 book release, titled LOST & FOUND.  The activities carried out from this exhibition will be brought with the support of the Government of Guadalajara and the company 212 Productions.

Fortifying the artist’s longtime relationship and solidarity with the people of Mexico, LOST & FOUND | VOLVER A ENCONTRARSE promises to be an extraordinary movement in the international landscape of art during this particular time of political and social contradiction. In the last 10 years, the artist David LaChapelle has shown in 8 Latin American countries, with 13 solo museum exhibitions, and 3 art fairs.  In   Montevideo, Uruguay (2016), he held for the first time in his career, 4 simultaneous solo shows; and overall, his exhibits in the region have had hosted more than 350,000 visitors.

During LACHAPELLE´s visit, a series of related activities will be held that will involve diverse sectors of the population. This in order to promote the artists afinity with the people of Guadalajara, as LACHAPELLE is a faithful believer that art is for everyone and should not be reserved only for a specific audience.

The artist will present a free public lecture to dialogue about the importance of art in the world and to speak directly with students and the artistic Mexican community.

DAVID LACHAPELLE is considered to be one of the most influential and prolific photographers alive today.  His work is characterized by the high impact of his images and the rich dialogue he establishes with the viewer. His provocative work, and at the same time sublime, is capable of generating endless emotions.

In 2009, 212 Productions organized the exhibition of the artist called DELIRIOS DE RAZÓN | DELIRIUM OF REASON in Mexico City and Guadalajara, which was visited by a large number of art lovers, which resulted in an important reference point of the cultural movement of both cities and, in general, of the country.
